Next time! □īut I just wanted to say thank you for all the love and prayers over the summer. I think the only thing they could have made it better would have been having the boys with us. Having a difficult couple of months made the vacation even more exciting and special. It felt amazing to be able to still go on our trip together. Happy to be alive and to visit new places!! □□□ Even if it’s Target Magnolia Market like everyone else on the block. Whatever your style is- I’m cheering you on. It’s your home! You have free rein to be YOU. Home should be a place where you are the most comfortable being yourself… it doesn’t have to impress others or match someone else’s perfect IG aesthetic. Or maybe you’re actually so minimalist and everything else stresses you out and you would HATE my decor LOL. There’s not a one-size-fits-all style that’s “right.” You could be a farmhouse girly. Likewise, our homes don’t need to look the same either. When you open up every homemaker’s personality, you’re not going to get the same recipe. I feel strongly that your home should be your private space to be yourself. Everything has to be so curated, it’s exhausting. Gone are the overstuffed sofas and colorful kids toys! Gone are the Live Laugh Love signs or teacup collections with Princess Dianna’s face on them. Gone are the cozy yellow kitchens with fridge magnets from the early 2000’s. It’s like everything has been Target gentrified, and there’s no room for expression. We compare, contrast, and sometimes walk away feeling pressured to renovate or keep up.Īnd along the way, there has been a sterilization of home decor. And even if we’re not personally sharing, we’re getting a firsthand look into other people’s homes. But since the advent of social media, homes have been opened up to EVERYONE. In the past, you wouldn’t know what someone’s home looked like unless you were personally invited over. Home decor is a topic I find fascinating. I can’t seem to erase that whimsical unserious side of myself, and it shows in my home. A room doesn’t feel complete unless there’s a little sprinkle of silliness perched on a table or hiding in a basket. I’ve realized that no matter how elegant I try to make a space, I never quite stick the landing because I can’t resist adding a plushie or a touch of Pusheen or something else entirely unserious to the space. Budgies mate for life, so that’s why I had to buy 2.
